I am currently in the middle of rewriting a novel. It's been a long journey—this novel in the making that is probably in its fifth iteration. I'm about halfway through the rewrite, and I’m at work on a very difficult chapter. Well, it’s slow going. All the ideas are there, it’s pulling them together that I’m struggling with.
One of the things that I’ve learned over the years is to let the writing breathe. That’s what I’ve done with this piece. Having come back to work on it after a long rest, I’m looking at it differently, with a new perspective. The writing feels fresh. I feel as though I am in my element.
While I await news on a few other pieces that I’ve submitted for publication, I really don’t know what will come of this novel. I hope that it may one day be published, but that’s not a guarantee. But I keep writing. What else can I do?
